JAPANESE ART SHEARS WARRANTY, RETURNS, AND EXCHANGE POLICY

1. Final Sale Policy
All shears sold through the website under the Japanese Art Shears collections are a final sale.
Returns or exchanges are not permitted except in the limited case of a verified factory defect. Private exceptions may be granted solely at Japanese Art Shears’s discretion but do not establish precedent.
2. Scope of Policy
This policy applies exclusively to online purchases. Purchases through distributors, sales representatives, events, or third parties are governed by separate terms.
3. Definition of Factory Defect
A factory defect is a manufacturing fault present at the time of production that materially affects the mechanical function of the shear.
The following are not considered factory defects:
- Preference or dissatisfaction with feel, balance, tension, weight, or ergonomics
- Incorrect model selection or hand size mismatch
- Cutting style incompatibility
- Cosmetic variations or surface marks
- Break in characteristics or normal wear
- Damage caused by impact, dropping, or misuse
- Exposure to moisture, chemicals, or improper sanitation
- Sharpening, tuning, adjustment, or modification by anyone other than Master Shear Sharpener
- Engraving, personalization, or customization
- Test cutting or use on mannequins, fibers, or any material.
4. Inspection Period and Claim Submission
Any claim for a factory defect must be submitted in writing via email within seven calendar days of delivery.
Late submissions will not be accepted. Email submission is mandatory to initiate warranty evaluation.
5. Condition Requirements for Authorized Returns
If a return is approved for a verified factory defect, the shear must be returned in the same condition received.
Required contents for return include:
- Original presentation box
- Tension key in original packaging
- Scissor sleeve
- Oil cartridge
- All included accessories
Missing items, altered packaging, or evidence of use void eligibility. Unauthorized or incomplete returns will be returned at the sender’s expense.
6. Hygiene and Use Policy
Due to professional hygiene standards, any shear exposed to biological material is not eligible for return or exchange.
Test cutting is allowed only on real hair by demonstration models supplied by authorized sales representatives. Test cutting on purchased shears voids return or exchange rights.
7. Sharpening, Tuning, and Adjustment Exclusivity
All sharpening, tuning, adjustment, or mechanical servicing must be performed exclusively by Japanese Art Shears/Master Shear Sharpener.
Third-party servicing or modification immediately voids all warranty coverage.
8. Engraving and Customization
Engraving, personalization, or customization automatically voids all return, exchange, and warranty rights.
9. Lifetime Warranty Coverage
Japanese Art Shears carry a lifetime warranty against verified factory defects only.
- Warranty remedies are limited to repair at Japanese Art Shears/ Master Shear Sharpener’s discretion.
- Replacement is provided only if repair is not reasonably possible.
- Routine sharpening or maintenance is not covered under warranty.
- Japanese Art Shears/Master Shear Sharpener reserves the right to photograph, document, and retain defective items for analysis if replacement is provided.
- Liability is strictly limited to repair or replacement; incidental, consequential, or other damages are excluded.
10. Repeated, Abusive, or Fraudulent Behavior
Japanese Art Shears/Master Shear Sharpener reserves the right to refuse service, deny future purchases, or revoke warranty consideration for customers who demonstrate:
- Repeated return attempts
- Abuse of this policy
- Threatening, fraudulent, or otherwise inappropriate behavior.
11. Authorization and Return Process
All warranty claims or authorized returns require prior written email approval.
Authorized returns must include the customer’s full name, email address, phone number, and proof of purchase inside the package.
Unauthorized shipments will be refused or returned at the sender’s expense.
12. Shipping Responsibility
Customers are responsible for all shipping costs related to warranty evaluation, repair, or authorized returns. Shipping fees are non refundable.
Japanese Art Shears/Master Shear Sharpener is not responsible for lost or damaged shipments. Insurance and tracking are strongly recommended.
13. Professional Use and Buyer Responsibility
Japanese Art Shears is professional equipment requiring professional judgment.
The buyer assumes full responsibility for selecting the correct model for their needs, skill level, and application.
14. Entire Agreement and Reliance Disclaimer
This written policy constitutes the entire agreement regarding returns, exchanges, and warranty.
It supersedes and overrides all prior or contemporaneous verbal statements, messages, emails, social media communications, or third-party representations.
15. Governing Law and Venue
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of California.
All disputes arising from or related to this policy or purchase shall be brought exclusively in Sonoma County, California.
